Olympic treats

Now, it must be said that when it comes to cakes, I do tend to find it difficult to say no to the odd one...or two. I mean, who doesn't? So, bearing this in mind, I thought the olympic opening ceremony was the perfect opportunity to whip up a batch of fairy cakes, decorate them all 'fancy' and then of course, eat the odd one...or two (sharing occasionally).

What you'll need:
  • 100g (4oz) butter or margarine
  • 100g (4oz) caster sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 100g (4oz) self raising flour
  • Vanilla essence

  • Icing sugar and icing pens (for decorations)

1. Place the fat and sugar into the mixing bowl and cream (electric whisk recommended unless you want a dead arm) until pale and fluffy.

2. Add the beaten egg a little at a time, mixing well after each addition.

3. Fold in the flour and a few drops of vanilla essence, until all of the ingredients are completely combined.

4.Spread 12-16 paper cases out on a baking tray and fill each one two-thirds full. Bake in the oven at 190°C for 15-20 minutes, until golden.

5. Finally, once cooled, decorate them as you wish. I'm rather chuffed with my icing skills...perhaps a future career if all else fails?

Flights of Fancy

Sun, sun, suuuuuuuuuuunnn...

I could very easily get used to this weather; pretty dresses, sandals, barbecues, the ability to go out and not come back with soggy hair that has stuck to your face, and of course...days out! This time, sister Webb and I decided to visit 'Tatton Park' (We're not National Trust obsessed...promise!). The weather was beautiful, yet again, and so after having a lovely chilled lunch, we had a little mooch around the gardens. There is also an art exhibition on at the moment, showing sculptures that are all to do with 'flight'. It has to be said though, that I didn't quite understand some of the pieces...they were a little bit too random for my liking, however my favourite was most definitely the floating bridge with the GIANT balloons. SO. FLIPPIN'. COOL.

The end of a golden era

After having had a little celebration from hearing that the sunshine was making a return, I decided that it was the perfect excuse to put on my very bright yellow dress, hop in the car and take a mini road trip, (dragging sister Webb along for the ride). With a picnic prepped and packed in the back, we drove for about an hour, before arriving at a National Trust property called 'Lyme Park'. It was really lovely, as even though it was the first day of the summer holidays, it wasn't too busy and the gardens surrounding the property were absolutely beautiful. We did also get rather excited (maybe a little bit too excited) about the fact that 'Pride and Prejudice' was filmed there, and were loving the 'Colin Firth ground' around the lake, as you can see...

Well hello there

Hello world, so i've decided to venture into the unknown and properly start a blog. Having been so interested and inspired by some of the fabulous blogs out there, I decided it was finally time for me to join the 'blogging-club'. Plus, seeing as I've recently finished my A levels and am well into my immensely long holiday (I don't know how I'm going to cope without it, come September!), there seemed to be no better time.

So here it is, my exciting little corner of the internet, filled with my random adventures and things that tickle my fancy (with the occasional ramble thrown in there for good measure).

Here goes nothing...
